How to make a craft cake recipe using fruit and veggies You can use fruit and vegetables to make different types of cake, but you can also start by making a basic fruit and vegetable cake recipe.
To make this fruit and veggie cake recipe, you need: 1 cup fresh fruit 1 cup dried fruit 1-2 tablespoons fresh herbs or spices like basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary 1/2 cup water You’ll need to buy dried fruits, herbs, and spices for this recipe.
Just be sure to buy fresh fruit or vegetable peelings for your kitchen counter.
If they’re not in season, you can buy them from the store, or you can make your favorite DIY fruit and spice cake recipe at home.
In a medium saucepan, heat the water.
Add the fruit and fruit peelings, and allow them to dissolve.
Set aside for a few minutes.
Meanwhile, heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
Add a tablespoon of the water and a pinch of salt to the water, then bring to a boil.
When the water reaches a boil, remove the pan from the heat.
Using a sharp knife, cut into squares about 2 inches wide.
Place a baking sheet on top of each square.
Repeat with remaining squares.
When both the saucepan and baking sheet are hot, pour the fruit juice and fruit into each square, and add more water as needed.
Allow the fruit juices to infuse into the fruit, and cook for 5-7 minutes until they’re thoroughly mixed.
Remove the fruit from the baking sheet and allow to cool.
Add more water to the sauce pan if needed, then add the remaining fruit juices, herbs and spices, and bring to simmer.
Once the fruit has finished cooking, add the cooled fruit and water mixture to the cooled saucepan.
Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture is reduced by 50%.
Taste and adjust the seasonings to your liking.
You can also add extra fruit juice, herbs or spice to your fruit and vinegar mixture to create your own custom fruit and wine cake.
Serve this fruit cake with a dollop of cream cheese frosting and a scoop of ice cream.
